If you’re interested in exploring alternatives to our current economic systems and understanding how local communities can make a difference, join us on the 12th November at 7.30pm for a free talk with author and former Managing Director of Bristol Pound, Diana Finch. Diana will be discussing her book ‘Value Beyond Money’ and the city-wide currency the Bristol Pound in rethinking what money is and does. Following the talk at Frome Town Council at 7.30 pm there will be a panel discussion and a chance to mingle.

The talk is organised and hosted by Sustainable Frome, Green and Healthy Frome, Frome Town Council and builds on the work of Keep it Frome and the ‘Doughnut Economics’ Group.  The event is FREE but please book here to ensure your place: http://bit.ly/4e2OLzV

Diana’s book takes the reader on a journey from the initial idea of creating a city-wide local currency to the heyday of the Bristol Pound as the largest local currency in the UK – and on through the various challenges and problems that led to its eventual demise.  Around this very human story, the author explores many of the ideas included in the terms ‘new economics’ and ‘alternative economics’ and looks ahead to the changes that are needed in our economic thinking if we are to create a system that allows the planet to regain a stable environment and rebalance the many inequalities that the current economic system has created.

So join us for a free evening that challenges societal norms and will inspire you to think differently.

About Diana Finch

After working in charity leadership roles, Diana became frustrated that the problems the charities were trying to solve were constantly being recreated by the wider economic system. This prompted her to apply to become managing director of Bristol Pound, which was aiming to address the problems systemically by changing the economic system itself.
