Future Shed Frome

Green Community Connectors logo green

Future Shed offers practical support to get green and healthy initiatives and enterprises off the ground through building networks, supporting projects, connecting people and coaching.

Make new connections, share ideas and get support to bring them to life so that we’re all better equipped for a greener, healthier future.  Future Shed is part of Edventure, an organisation supporting community entrepreneurship in Frome.

What happens at Future Shed?

We host meet ups with groups and networks, usually on a Friday morning, at Edventure’s Hub in Frome.

We offer free coaching and support to individuals and organisations, including training workshops, and connect people together.

We support local networks of action and groups working in food, textiles, play and wellbeing. We enable community-led action connecting climate and health through working together and sharing ideas.

Go to our Eventbrite to see our current activities, and to book in.

Many of the groups and organisations we partner with run their own activities. Please follow the links to connect with the network or project that interests you, or contact Future Shed for an introduction.

Frome Food Network – building awareness of food sustainability and the local food economy. Their latest project Canteen brings a pop-up to the town, offering delicious, locally sourced food, affordable to all on Fridays 25 October and 15 November from 5pm to 8pm at Trinity Hall Frome. Find out more on the Canteen website.

Back to Nature – bringing people closer to their natural surroundings, so our communities, the environment and the people can flourish. Outdoor sessions for women continue, including a nature retreat.

Super Roots – creating more opportunities for children, families & young people to use tools, swing high, experience campfires, fuel imaginative play & learn in nature.

Everyone Needs Pockets – a network of people and enterprises focusing on clothing and textile reuse (rescue) and sustainability (repurposing, recycling).  Sustainable Fashion Week returns to Frome from 20-29 September with talks, workshops, clothes swaps and repair events.

Sewing The Seeds – a community fibre project with a network of flax growers. Workshops continue about flax processing, weaving and embroidery.

Frome Seed Library – a seed library in Frome’s Library, alongside learning activities for children and outreach to support and develop community growing spaces.

Frome Families for the Future – a group of caring and concerned individuals committed to securing a brighter future for our children, who have created the River Vision Project.

Health & Wellbeing Network – community wellbeing through practical activities and connection.

Future Shed has recently run an Art Materials Give & Take project this summer to begin building a network around the arts focusing on climate and wellbeing.

Residencies

As part of Green & Healthy Frome, Future Shed works in partnership with networks and groups to take community-led action. We host groups or projects ‘in residence’ each year to create public activities and engagement as well as receiving support to develop their organisation.

Much of our work is rooted in the topics that were put forward by the community at the Green & Healthy launch event in 2020, and the online Ideas Board.

Edventure’s co-working space

Edventure’s hub has desk spaces surrounded with beautiful plants, fast WiFi, fabulous ethical teas and coffee, with a workshop / maker-space and meeting rooms. Contact us if you’re interested.
