Ensuring Healthy Homes for everyone

Healthy Homes

The Healthy Homes programme run by Frome Town Council and Frome Medical practice, is in full swing. It’s part of the lottery funded Green and Healthy Futures programme and equips the residents of Frome with the knowledge to make their own homes healthy and carbon efficient. Acting now, ahead of winter, means that when the colder months hit, homes have been improved to ensure their residents remain healthy.

The Healthy Homes team, along with Centre for Sustainable Energy, hosted their first drop-in session at the Boyle Cross last week and will return on selected Wednesdays over the summer and into autumn. During their initial session they spoke to many Frome residents offering free and impartial energy advice. Why not pop by for a chat when they’re next there: 4th August 1st & 22nd September and 20th October.

Cllr Rob Collet added: “We may be in the height of summer and enjoying a mini heatwave, but we are also in the middle of a climate emergency and should be addressing this on a daily basis; ensuring our homes are energy efficient is a step towards this.”

“Everyone has a right to a healthy, draft-free home and these drop-in sessions are great for getting free advice. In an effort to reduce our carbon footprint we need to look at the heating options available to us in our homes. The team are also hosting a webinar on Thursday 29th July 5:30-6:30pm, looking at heating your home, from the traditional systems but also low carbon options. Plus, there’s a host of funding available to upgrade or replace inefficient boilers or to install a new heating system altogether, so I encourage residents of Frome to sign up to the free session.”
