Plastic Free. Period – join, learn, explore, switch event
Plastic Free. Period, which is a unique collaboration of Frome medical Practice and Frome
Town Council and a part of Green & Healthy Frome, is hosting two enlightening events
aimed at combating the growing environmental and health concerns associated with
disposable period products.

Local people who are curious about simple changes that can have a positive impact on
pocket and planet, are invited to thought-provoking evening at Frome Town Hall on
Wednesday 24th September from 6.30-8.30pm. Those attending will have an opportunity to
see and feel modern, plastic-free period and incontinence products, listen to some
interesting talks, and watch films about the health and environmental impact of disposable
menstrual products.

The bar will be open so it’s a great opportunity to enjoy a social evening and learn how you
can make the switch to more sustainable, reusable period products. It’s healthier, cheaper in
the long term, and much better for the planet.

What people are saying?
Cllr Fiona Barrows said, “We want Frome to continue to lead the way when it comes to
thinking differently about sustainability. Raising awareness about the health and climate
incentives of using plastic-free and reusable products as well as helping to save people
money and embed the shift to plastic-free period products in our community by offering
discounts of up to 25% from various local and online businesses and by giving away.”

Dr Helen Kingston from Frome Medical Practice said, “Being able to give away free plastic free period
packs for Frome’s young people on pupil premium, and all year 8 and 9 students thanks to
the fantastic support of local people really is something to shout about. We’ve already
distributed 110 packs for young people in Frome and are delighted to have more to give away at
these events. The packs contain three pairs of great quality period pants from Cheeky
Wipes, a reusable pad and a wash bag – a great starter for a young people to experience
healthier, cheaper and planet friendly periods. We really encourage parents and carers to
come along and find out more.”

Pop-up stall on Thursday 25th September
On Thursday 25 th September from 11.30am – 4.30pm Plastic Free. Period team will also
host a pop-up event outside Ellenbray. Again, there will be an opportunity to explore the
